In public speaking there must be a  good reason for making a speech.  Select a timely subject that is of current public concern. Learn all you can about the subject as “knowledge is power.” You will only master your audience when you have mastered your subject.  Because a speaker in doubt will not speak with conviction.

There must not only be belief in the subject,  it must also be logically presented. Too many speeches not only lack purpose but are also lacking in planning.  Thorough preparation and proper presentation are of primary importance.

The idea you convey may not be popular, but if you present it sincerely and logically, you can still put your viewpoint accross. You can earn respect personally even if your ideas are not accepted by the audience.
