Being from NZ thought I better bring this to your attention about our new found ability of public speaking. It is not normally one of our better known characteristics.

Congratulations Daniel Callum

From http://www,voxy.co.nz is an article on the success of a NZ Student from near my hometown. It begins as follows:

A young New Zealand student has outshone public speakers from around the world to win the popular vote at an international speech event in London.

Auckland University student Daniel Cullum was representing New Zealand at the English Speaking Union (ESU) Competition, an annual event entered by 40,000 young people in 46 countries.

Daniel was selected by Speech New Zealand and an ESU representative.

It is the third consecutive year that a New Zealand candidate has won the audience choice, an achievement unmatched by any other country which Speech New Zealand chair Claire Marsh says is quite remarkable.

“New Zealand is producing outstanding young speakers and these consistent results on an international stage are testament to their performance skills,” she said.
